The women's beach volleyball season is underway and on Friday afternoon, Utah will square off against No. 19 Arizona at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility. The Utes came into the weekend with a record of 6-2 so far and have won five in a row. The team played No. 14 Washington this morning to begin the Pac-12 South tournament, but the match was not over before press time hit. Prior to their match against the Huskies, the Utes played to a 4-1 victory over McNeese State in Texas. Pairs Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister, Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani, Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch and Sonja Wessel and Ray Milan each won their respective matches. Three of the four winning pairs won in two sets while Griffin and McAlister had to battle back to force a third set after dropping the first.

The Wildcats come into the weekend with a perfect 7-0 record so far this season and most recently beat Pepperdine in a 3-2 victory last weekend. Abby Russell and Olivia McElroy, Kylee Fitzsimmons and Annie Kost and Jess Horwath and Kate Phillips earned the wins for Arizona with Fitzimmons and Kost finishing in straight sets. The team will look to carry momentum into today's match to pick up its first conference win of the 2024 season.
Arizona is 8-0 against Utah with the most recent victory coming during last year's season in a 5-0 win.
